Group Writes NPDC, Alleges Marginalization of Benins, Edos

A civil society group, Benin Resource  Project  has written the Benin branch of the Nigerian Petroleum Development company ( NPDC), alleging marginalization of  Benins and Edo   State indigenes in the oil company.

A letter sent by the group to NPDC Benin office requests NPDC to: “Publish the names of Edo State Indigenes in NPDC’S employment. Edo State Indigenes NPDC’S  management staff and how many Edo State indigenes  NPDC employed recently.

“Whether the Community Relations Manager of your company is an Edo State Indigene as is the practice in other Oil bearing states in Nigeria and the local component in your community relations matrix and particulars of all security ad hoc personnel   of Edo State extraction working for NPDC Organization, on surveillance security contracts.

They also requested the company to publish particulars of the pre-construction Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) construction (MoU)  and post-construction (MoU)  over the construction and operation of the Ologbo gas plant located within NPDC jurisdiction.

“Particulars of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  done for indigenes of Edo from the budget of Corporate Social Responsibility of NPDC.  Particulars of Vendors of Edo State origin who make supplies to NPDC of a particular financial threshold as is the practice in other parts  of the country.

“ Particulars of how  you intend to distribute or have distributed NPDC  old furniture and chattel in NPDC Old Office on Sapele Road, by Adesuwa Grammar School Road Junction , Benin City and to whom they were distributed to as part of NPDC CSR

“Particulars of Service Providers of Edo State origin to ascertain NPDC engagement of interests within NPDC area of Jurisdiction, and particulars of scholarships given to indigent indigenes in Edo State in higher institutions as is the practice in other oil bearing states in Nigeria should also be published” the group demanded.
